In 1930, Ja Geum Soon was born in North Korea as it is now. She was pulled apart from her husband and little child when the Korean War started in the 1950s, and she fled to what is now South Korea. She created a hotel in the hopes that it would serve as a sort of metaphorical lighthouse, guiding her toward the family she had lost. From this hotel, the lucrative Nakwon hotel network was born. Now that Ja Geum Soon is nearing the end of her life, she longs to reconcile with Im Moon Sung, her unborn grandchild. Jung Sang Cheol, her devoted assistant, comes up with a scheme to help the elderly woman find peace before she passes away.
